Copywriting: Websites To Articles
Find Out How To Avoid My Mistakes
It wasn’t so long ago that I was a new home business owner. At first, I began making graphics and designs for my own avatars. Then it turned into doing avatars for friends. Next came making graphics to put on items for families to use as keepsakes and reminders of fond memories. I built a shopping cart site to show these items.
I joined a few sites and forums when I realized that my hobby was turning into a home business. At that time, I knew absolutely nothing about copywriting, SEO, internet marketing, or any of the other things that go along with being a home business owner. I just wanted to make graphics, help families, and make a little money on the side.
Little did I realize that I was about to get the education of a lifetime from Alice Seba. I subscribed to all of her email lists. There was so much to learn and I couldn’t keep up with the learning curve. I filed the tips into appropriate folders to refer to in the future.
Then came the day when Alice asked for a volunteer to lend their shopping site for a shopping cart critique. Normally, I’m the kind of person who wants to think things through. I have no idea what possessed me to jump at the chance to have my Memory Lane Products Shop critiqued! It may have been the fact that I had come to trust Alice.
Alice did the critique and then sent it to me. As soon as I watched the video, I started making changes. To be honest, I felt like an idiot for making some of those mistakes but hey, you can’t put into practice what you don’t know.
Once I applied my new copywriting knowledge and saw the difference, I felt much better about my site and myself. The added bonus was that my customers saw the difference and my sales escalated! That did it for me. I had found a mentor. If following Alice’s suggestions about my shop could make me feel better and increase my sales, I just knew her advice on other things would help too.
From that point, I moved on to other areas where I could use my newfound copywriting knowledge. I applied my knowledge to website & blog content, newsletters, articles, and anything that my customers would read. Although I am still learning and applying as I go, I have to thank Alice and others for pointing out things that help my business become more profitable and less frustrating.
P.S. You can find out what newbie mistakes I made and see what I changed on my shopping cart site by clicking here.
P.S.S. Avoid learning the hard way like, I did. Get started with this great copywriting course!
Happy learning and earning,
Kit
