If you do a lot of Internet research, you may run into the same problem I did. The problem? That darn location on Google Search shows local items when I want world wide or national info. I wish they would allowed us to turn off the auto-location but they don’t. The only thing we can do is change the location on Google searches.
To get rid of the “helpful” local or state searches associated with your location, all you have to do is click the change location button, insert your country’s name and save the location. I found that changing my location to the country’s name works best for my purposes but you could also use your state or state capital to broaden your search info from the local default location.
When searching the Internet, you don’t have to be stuck with viewing unwanted local results. Just change the location on Google Search results to cut to the chase and find the more relevant national websites.
Update
If you need to temporarily search in a different country, for example Google UK, you may go directly to the country’s Google page. Don’t know the url? Visit the Google Language Tools page. Scroll to the bottom and select the “country” page you need. Once on the page, click on the “country” page link to the left or enter a location in the box and click the “set” button.
